Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1: Log in to Your AskSpot Account
First, ensure you are logged into your AskSpot account. Navigate to your bot (e.g., My Demo Bot).
Step 2: Navigate to Sources and Integrations
Go to the Sources section.
Click on the Integrations tab.
You should see options for Google Sheets and Google Docs.
Step 3: Add Your Google Sheet
Click on Google Sheets.
Ensure you are sharing your Google Sheets with the following email address: askpot-integrations@askspot-staging.iam.gserviceaccount.com.
This allows the AskSpot chatbot to access the Google Sheet as a source.
Step 4: Share Your Google Sheet
Open the Google Sheet you want to integrate.
Click on Share.
Add the email address askpot-integrations@askspot-staging.iam.gserviceaccount.com.
Ensure it has viewer access (not editor access).
Alternative Sharing Method
If you prefer not to share the document with the specific email address:
Set the document's sharing settings to "Anyone with the link."
Copy the public link and add it to your AskSpot chatbot.
Step 5: Enter Google Sheet URL
Enter the Google Sheet URL in the provided field in AskSpot.
Click on Save Sources.
You will see the Google Sheet listed under "Saved Sources."
Step 6: Tag and Auto-Sync
Add a tag to the Google Sheet for easier sorting (e.g., Google Sheet).
Turn on Auto Sync to update the data regularly.
Set the sync frequency (e.g., every day).
Click Save.
Step 7: Update Source Manually
If needed, you can manually update the source:
Click on Update Source.
Confirm the update by clicking Yes.
URL Options for Google Sheets and Docs
You can use either the edit page document URL or the share with anyone URL. Your chatbot will be able to access the data from these URLs. The same applies to Google Docs:
If the document is private, share it with askpot-integrations@askspot-staging.iam.gserviceaccount.com.
If the document is public, provide the "Anyone with the link" URL.
Integrating Google Sheets and Docs with your AskSpot chatbot is simple and enhances your bot's functionality. By following these steps, your chatbot will be able to access and use the data from your Google Sheets and Docs seamlessly.
